THE LAW OF HONESTY

This Awareness indicates the Law of Honesty is that Law which sees things as they are, without an attempt to alter that which is seen, either for purposes of advantage or out of fear.

"Belief means not wanting to know what is true."
~ Friedrick Nietzsche ~

Short or long, these Laws are such huge "homeworks"... The simpler the concepts, the longer and wider they seem. Some people cling on to the idea of "Honesty", but it is the notion of "Reality" that I squeeze out of this law. I can think of the "reality principle" and how easy it is to confuse our perception with reality. I can go a bit further and think how many tricks we consciously and unconsciously apply so as NOT to face our realities. Still, I imagine we'd climb a lot higher, to cosmic levels, which would then bring a lot of inner peace to our many times aching souls: to not get lost in the apparent, material, everyday view of things (ego). The wisdom we seek is inside. The peace. The real answers. All the rest is illusion. Your words made me reflect upon all of this. And, again, they come as a blessing. Your words are a wonderful anchor; it's easy to get caught by the hurricane of "everyday" things, to get lost.

Response:
Thank you.

As you know I usually try to translate your wise words into the equivalents I have found in my path through my own words... Well, first of all, your quotation reminded me of the wisdom of what I innerly understand as Surrender. Like a Zen-like Surrender. It is the way it should be, so the best is just to surrender. Wise words; so difficult to do sometimes. Along the path, though, I have been able to achieve that "Surrender" in some aspects, which is so liberating.

Your blog reminds me mainly of personal work, or, as Jung would explain it: you cannot deal with Collective Unconscious Issues skipping the Personal Unconscious. So our own personal, individual struggles, enigmas, wounds, have to be the starting point. I totally agree on that. I have met many people who are very much into "astral flights" or having what I perceive as "exotic" spiritual experiences but their lives simply don't make sense! Well, that has simply "made no sense" to me.

As this is a lifetime path and I am dealing with a personal challenge now, I sometimes ask myself if the hardest parts for me are close to over now. Sometimes I wonder if I make it more complicated than it is, or if sometimes I move in circles.

The central idea of your blog deals with "Honesty", and I tend to translate that into: being aware of "Reality". Which is tied to: assuming personal responsibility on how we participate to create it. Leaving aside victimhood. Assuming our responsibility is wonderful, because we get the magical power back. If we created that one, once aware, we can create a different one. A really fulfilling one.

Response:
What a wonderfully enlightening summary! Your ability to penetrate right down to the core and extract more than juice is an incredible gift.. Thank you so much for mirroring my words back to me!

The scariest thing I ever saw was myself. This I did long ago, and even though I avoid my own illusions, I do still get caught up in fantasy (hence my dilemmas). I'm curious about something you may have insight to offer. I read (and learned) long ago (I think it was in Shirley Macleans "Out on a Limb") that we each must allow others to progress in their own way and speed, but I feel I have a "moral" obligation to "speed up" the progress of certain individuals, for their own safety, but I am hindered by this (law?) insight. The individuals in question would balk at any reference to spiritual responsibility. What to do?

Response:
None of us are morally obligated to anyone but ourselves. The truth is, howevermuch you would like to see someone else progress at a faster pace, there is really nothing you can do to make this happen. At least not in any way that is not an imposition on someone else's free will. As they say, you may lead the horse to water, but you can't make it drink.. unless IT wants to, unless IT feels a need to quench a thirst. All any of us can ever do, realistically, is to pay close attention to what WE ought to be doing (or NOT doing).

In order to help others, our focus of correction must always be on self. This is where our power to affect the world around us really lies. To think otherwise is to be caught up misguidedly in the big Illusion. Learning to see "rightly"--the process of removing everything and anything that either blinds us or distorts our vision from the truth--is an inner solo journey and we can't force it on another being however good intentioned we may be. But what's most important, and I can't stress this enough, is that as we make strides in our own spiritual journey, the inner shifts and changes that we undergo ALL register at the psychic level of existence, altering and affecting the people around us without our having to really do anything overt (in other words, no need ever for arm twisting.) True strength is always more subtle than brute force.
