Appraisal

Question: What do you think when you read this quote?

"A wise man should have money in his head, but not in his heart." -Jonathan Swift-

Response: Money is a medium of energy exchange, conceived of and carried out by the intellect. Like a computerized cash till, it administrates its books, counting its reserves with exactitude and precision, increasing its value with shrewdness and calculation.

The currency of the heart, the medium of Life's incentive, is measured and tallied by the high ideals we are brave enough to envision and embrace. Like an easy-going romance, it tends to its relationships with forbearance, increasing its spirit with compromise and ceremony.

Basically, the head and the heart are two very different kinds of accounts. A wise man knows he must keep his bank balances in order because love won't pay the rent. And he cultivates his relationships with others by keeping his heart wide open because he discovers soon enough that money will never buy him love--perhaps the feigned kind, but certainly not the real thing.
